Digital mammography, also called full-field digital mammography (FFDM), is a mammography system in which the X-ray film is replaced by solid-state detectors that convert X-rays into electrical signals.
Ultrasound imaging of the breast uses sound waves to produce pictures of the internal structures of the breast.
A breast MRI is used to assess the extent of breast cancer. It’s also used to screen for breast cancer in women thought to have a high risk of the disease.
